Old Tin has just returned from the ‘99 USA Buying Trip which also took in 5 major events plus Swap Meets, Wrecking Yards and Cruise Nights. Things are really buzzing over there with increased numbers at every event and general confidence in the economy allowing people to spend their recreation dollars happily.

Unfortunately, this impacts on Old Tin because of the poor Aussie dollar, increased US prices and shipping costs and more competition for available parts.

Still, I did secure some good buys, and have listed them at the end of this Newsletter.

USA DREAM TOUR 1999

With a total of 6 members the Old Tin Great Aussie Dream Tour flew out on 4th June and landed in LA ready for the Antique Nationals run by the Four Ever Four Club. A hectic weekend and then on the road for the next 4 weeks allowed us to attend many varied places of interest along with some of the great Hot Rod events available. From California to Florida and back, and then to Canada and back meant our renters had an extra 16,000 miles on the clock. The final 3 weeks were spent picking up my purchases and getting them back to LA for packing into the container. Another successful trip although a lack of coupes was noted.

DREAM TOUR VIDEO

The Video covers the following : Antique Nats, Pomona Swap, Don Garlits Museum, Great Race, LA Roadster Show and Swap, Cruise Nights, Wrecking Yards, Oldies Drags -Boise Idaho.

Remember, only $20 for 3 hours entertainment. A great gift idea.

HOT ROD AND KUSTOM TIES

A new Hot Rod design has been released and will be arriving shortly. This will provide further options for those special occasions, with three styles to choose from. See photos on our Products page.

Price will remain at $35 postage paid and orders by phone, fax or mail are all welcome.

1929 ROADSTER PICKUPS

My Demo model Pickup will be ready for Bendigo so drop in and have a look.

A new V8 Pickup will be released around Christmas. Pricing and spec’s have not been finalised, but will be advised in next Newsletter and via ads in Street Rodding. Remember these are Y2K compliant !!.

Grand opening of our website was to be in September. We have now gone online as of late October 1999 at www.oldtin.com.au. Please have a browse and tell your friends. Email will be available soon! Please phone or fax in the meantime.

NOSTALGIA DRAGS

We’ve just returned from the Australian Nostalgia Titles at Mildura which also saw the official opening of this new 1/8th Mile track. A great weekend of racing with only minor hiccups due to large number of entries. Old Tin’s Holden 6 powered Altered made 2nd round which was a blast for its first outing. These events will get bigger and better and will be a must-do for Hot Rodders in the future.

NEW PRODUCTS

28 Roadster Doors We’ve just released our Brand New Steel Roadster Doors which come with burstproofs and intrusion bars fitted. Priced at $1000 a pair they are a viable alternative to fixing up old doors (if you can find them) or buying Brookeville doors and fitting burstproofs (a costly exercise). Extended doors can also be made for slightly higher cost.

28 Roadster Pickup Cab Backs Old Tin’s own design Pickup cab backs are a hot item and are available now for $500.

28 Roadster Backs Cheap fibreglass roadster back kits suitable for Race Cars are available for $650 which includes all body panels behind the doors unassembled.

28 Sedan Delivery Conversion Kit A fibreglass kit to convert your Tudor to a Delivery will be available soon. I will also supply steel cowl and doors and this kit as a Delivery option as well.
