Hope you made it through the hectic Christmas/New Year rush and didn’t over indulge too much. The summer has been funny here, with lots of rain and lots of heat too. Makes me have to mow more regularly, and makes it tough to get things done both outside and inside. Still that’s the breaks in this business, eh?

Last year seemed to fly and I don’t know if I got to enjoy it as much as I liked. Still there were some great highlights including New Land Speed Record for the A Motor of 86mph, a low 12 second ¼ mile in the Holden 6 powered Altered, Easter Rod Run in Ballarat, some great cruisin in the Old Tin Pickup, another fantastic Dream Tour to the USA, Nostalgia drags at Mildura, 30^th Birthday Rod Run for Ballarat Road Rodders and to top the year off a 10.5 second blast down the 1/4mile in my brother’s 67 Camaro at 130mph. Not too shabby, now that I look back.

However, we’re not going to keep thinking about the past because there’s a whole new year ahead and we’re going to make it bigger and better than the last one. Hang on tight as we explain what’s planned for 2001.

We have been trying to keep upgrades happening on a regular basis and will try to ensure at least 3 monthly updates continue. Of course there will be TinYard changes as they occur and any specials will be highlighted on the Home Page. If there is anything you would like to see included on the Web site, please let me know so it can be evaluated.

Great Aussie Dream Tour 2001

This years Dream Tour is planned for June and to include the Antique Nationals, Swap Meets and LA Roadster Show. Trips can be tailored to suit individual requests and can be worked around different dates (subject to numbers and availability). Please contact me if you’re interested.

New Products

Old Tin has secured the rights to distribute the new Model A quickchange centre out of New Zealand. Designed as a replacement for the original A Model and to enable quick rear end ratio changes it has been accepted by restorers and rodders alike both in New Zealand and the USA. Old Tin will be selling either the centre by itself or as complete assembled rear ends. Look for more info and photos on the website.

Hot Rod Pickup

The first V8 version is nearly finished and will soon be cruising in Victoria. We will finalise pricing and advise soon. A lot of kits have been sold and there will be some nice ones on the road soon also. We can supply any part for your pickup in steel (or glass) and new or secondhand to suit your style and budget. Call with your needs.

Events

Old Tin will be trying to attend as many Victorian events as possible this year and also hopes to attend the Nationals at Easter and some NSW swaps later in the year.

Salt Lake Racing

We have just returned from the Salt and ran 86.5mph which was 0.2 mph slower than last year. So much for Bob’s engine which ran well but when I got home found out it only had a Stock Cam so the 3300 revs was wringing its neck out. Better planning (and listening to Bob) before next years event will ensure we go faster. 100 mph in 2002

Stock

Good stock is getting very hard to find and more so to keep. Whenever we get a Coupe its gone in a week. Whenever we get a steel roadster it’s gone in a week. Tudors are still moving but only the good ones and they are running out.

We have started stripping and repairing and cleaning bodies to present a better product but this takes time and money and we only have limited raw materials at present. Some stock will still be sold as found to satisfy the talented guys and girls as well. Check out the list of stock below and on the Web site to see if we can help.

Our annual buying trip starts in June and we need to know what to look for before then. Stock will arrive in August.

To assist some of the recent enquiries we have also put together some packages that may appeal to others. Body and chassis packages sometimes take the hard yakka out of your project and may save valuable time in chasing all the bits you need. See if these appeal or let me know what you want.
